My Story

London marathon - My way April 27th 2025.

This year I've decided to run the London marathon once more. However, this time I'm doing it virtually, which means I will get to run once more with my best running friend Clare.

Running a marathon has for the past 2 years brought me so much focus, it's supported my mental health, physical health and two separate charities which I am very passionate about.

This year is no different, and although I will not be running the streets of London, we will be running the streets of Hampshire (route to be decided). I can't pass up this opportunity to raise awareness and funds for another worthy  charity.

This year the charity I have chosen is very close to my heart. My best friend and her partner have welcomed a beautiful baby boy, Leo into the world in December. However, at 20 weeks pregnant, they were told that Leo had a complex heart condition called a DORV - double outlet, right ventricle. Double outlet right ventricle (DORV) is a form of congenital heart disease where both of the great arteries connect (in whole or in part) to the right ventricle (RV)

He also has a very large VSD (hole in the heart). Whilst this is common, Leo’s is quite large and is a tricky repair but it’s not impossible

Lastly, Leo has Pulmonary artery stenosis.
Which is narrowing in the pulmonary artery, the blood vessel that connects the right ventricle to the lungs.

Whilst all are repairable with open heart surgery, he’s got a tough little journey ahead.

Leo has the strongest parents he could wish for 💙
